Leaving your baby unattended for even just a few seconds can leave them in a mess if you’re not careful. Whether it be from soiling themselves, tripping over some juice or water, or some other accidental happening, you’re the one left to clean up the mess. But how do you clean up your baby? Not only are they still growing and maturing, but their skin is also sensitive to chemicals. It can be daunting for a new parent to clean their child for the first time.

Luckily, the process itself isn’t as difficult as you think — it’s basically just giving them a bath. With the help of a few items, you can clean your baby safely and easily.

Baby soap or shampoo

As mentioned earlier, babies have more sensitive skin than adults, and this is also true for any hairs that they may already have on their bodies. Because of this, the typical shampoo or soap products you use on yourself would be a terrible idea to use on them. Instead of those products, you’ll need something more catered to the needs of your baby. And that’s where baby soap and shampoo come in.

As the name suggests, baby soap and shampoo are baby bathing products designed just for babies. They leave a nice, fruity, or fresh-smelling scent behind your child, and more importantly, they don’t hurt your baby’s skin or hair at all. They also clean and get rid of any impurities from your baby, so you can easily clean off the muck and mess from them without any risks.

Towels

Of course, you can’t leave your baby as-is after bathing them. You’ll need something to dry them off afterward, and you’ll need a towel for that. But you can’t just use any type of towel. Do you know how some towels feel softer on your skin than others? You’ll want to pick something soft enough for your baby. A towel that’s even remotely tough on you will feel uncomfortable on your baby, so you need to make sure that the towel doesn’t cause any discomfort to them by checking for its softness.

There are, of course, towels designed specifically for babies. They come in flashy colors and prints of popular kids’ show characters. But if you’re not a fan of that, then you can get any sort of soft towel instead. As long as the towel doesn’t leave behind any tiny fibers on your baby’s skin, and it’s soft enough, it should be good enough for your child.

Baby bath seat

Baby bath seats are a lifesaver when it comes to bathing your child. Many parents bathe their children in a small tub, and while this works, it’s not nearly as convenient as a baby bath seat. Baby bath seats give your baby an environment where they can bathe safely, and this can be reassuring if you feel nervous about bathing your baby by yourself.

Toys

Finally, if your child has reached an age where they can play with toys, consider giving them a couple to play with as you bathe them. Some kids may throw tantrums or even express their disapproval when being given a bath. To make sure they’re occupied, you can give them a couple of bath-safe toys so that they’ll feel more relaxed as you clean them up.
