What Should Your Daughter Carry With Her to a Sleepover?
The day has finally come: your little girl is off to her first sleepover! Congratulations, as this is one way to tell that she’s growing up and becoming more independent (sniff). As exciting as this milestone may be, it brings with it a whole new set of challenges — namely, what on earth should she bring with her?
Try not to worry too much, mom and dad, because we’ve got you covered. Here’s a list of items your daughter will need to make sure she has for a fun and successful sleepover. Who knows, you probably remember taking some of these along with you for your first sleepover!
A BACKPACK
A girls backpack gives your daughter the freedom to pack everything she could need for a sleepover without having to worry about fitting it all into a small purse or handbag. From her favorite pillow and blanket to snacks and games, your daughter can bring it all without having to leave anything important at home.
A SLEEPING BAG
This one is a no-brainer. Your daughter will need someplace comfortable to sleep, and a sleeping bag will do the trick. They’re easy enough to find online if you don’t have one at home, and they’re relatively inexpensive. Just make sure that it’s big enough to fit your little girl comfortably — no one likes being cramped up when they’re trying to sleep!
PAJAMAS
Your daughter will need something to sleep in, and a pair of cozy pajamas is the perfect solution. If you’re not sure which kind of pajamas to get, consider going for something simple like a pair of leggings and an oversized t-shirt. That way, she’ll be comfortable no matter how warm or cold it is wherever she’s spending the night.
A TOOTHBRUSH & TOOTHPASTE
Packing a toothbrush and toothpaste is important for two reasons: first, you want your daughter to be fresh and clean for the next day, and second, it’s a good way to remind her to brush her teeth before bed! After all, no one likes waking up with morning breath. Bonus points if you can find a travel-sized toothbrush and toothpaste that won’t take up valuable space in her overnight bag.
A CHANGE OF CLOTHES
Accidents happen, especially when you’re a kid. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so pack a spare set of clothes for your daughter just in case something spills or tears during the night. Again, try to go for something simple that won’t take up too much space in her bag — a pair of yoga pants and a t-shirt should do the trick.
MEDICATIONS
If your daughter takes medication regularly (such as an inhaler for asthma), be sure to pack it in her bag before she leaves for the night. This way, she’ll have it on hand in case she needs to take it during the night.
SNACKS & DRINKS
No sleepover is complete without snacks and drinks! Whether it’s gummy bears or soda (or both), make sure your daughter and her friends have enough snacks and drinks to last them the night. Try to sneak in some healthy snacks as well, like fruit or veggies, so that she’ll get some nutritional value along with her sugar high!
ENTERTAINMENT
Last but not least, don’t forget to pack some entertainment for your daughter. A few good options include books, magazines, coloring books, portable game consoles like the Nintendo Switch, and movies or television shows on DVD or Blu-Ray. Whatever you choose, just make sure that it’s age-appropriate, and check with the parents of the other kids attending the sleepover to make sure that they’re okay with it as well.
CONCLUSION
With these items packed in her overnight bag, your daughter will be prepared for anything that comes her way at her first sleepover. You can rest easy knowing that you’ll hear from her in the morning, so go ahead and send her off with confidence — she’s got this!
